Chapter I : Natural Wonders
The Sun-Moon Mountains Highest point: 4877 meters in altitude. Two booths were built on each top of the mountains, one of them is the Sun booth, the other the Moon booth. The Mountains were originally named the “Red Hill”; it gained fame when Princess WenCheng of the Tang Dynasty passed by the mountain when she was on her way to the marriage with Songtsän Gampo in approximately 640 AD. It is said that the princess felt extreme homesick for her home Chang'An at that time. She took out the magical “Sun-Moon” mirror to see her family and home. However, realizing that the missionary should go on, she smashed the mirror in an attempt to overcome homesickness. Soon, the mountain gained its name. The Temple of Princess WenCheng was set up at the foot of the mountain. |

The is a train connecting BeiJing and Lhasa. Check the map: you'll find out that it's almost impossible to build such a railway. This railway is of great economical, political, and touring importance. Trust me, you want to be on that train someday. One can see a lot about China on the way. Cars are well equipped with oxygen AC.
