I was born in a small town in North of China (I think you would have to say that Anhui is in east central China), Lingbi, located in the North-East of China, (So, the first sentence would be, ‘I was born in a small town, Lingbi, in East-Central China.’) The most serious problem in my hometown is the backward ideas about education system, especially concerning what to expect from the middle school students. These ideas are reflective of the whole Chinese educational system .If possible, I would change the attitudes of the people in my hometown so that they would view their children as whole persons, not merely as test-takers.
In my hometown many families want to change their social status and many families have only one child. For most of these families, sending their child to college seems like the only way to change their social status and going to college means getting high scores on the exams. So parents emphasize exam results. Children endure great pressure from the time they enter high school
In fact, parents need to look at this question from different perspective. First of all, education is not only about getting good grades. I remember when I was in high school , I was not very good at math , which is the required subjects for middle school. My parents did not follow the norm of Lingbi parents. They did not give me so much pressure on my math , instead they tried to encourage me to pursue something that I like , like English. They told me that I need to find out what I like if I am going to college .
On the other hand, when our (our refers to whom?) children enter college, they will face a totally different system and different values, sometimes, the children who excel in the middle school cannot find their place in college. It is a great waste of time if our children only focus their time and energy on things they will only encounter in an exam, but never in real life.
Lastly, when our children go to the college, they become the pillar of society, so another way which might change the current situation is we can also educate the college. Education should focus not only on book knowledge but also should teach students how to think for themselves and how to bridge the gap between school and society. Once we (who is we) can change the value system of the parents and of the educational system then we can reevaluate the expectations we are putting on our children. This is something I really want to change about my hometown.

In my homtown , many of family have only 1 children , for most of family , going to Colleges is seeminly the only way to change their social status ,which is nothing to blame about , however , when the family only emphasise the exam reults in the education , our Children have to enduring the great pressure since they enter the high school , beacuse this is the only way to change their life .
